How Do I Cancel a Domain

There are circumstances where a customer may want to cancel their domain name. Domain names cannot be canceled or refunded per the TOS when purchasing a domain. Some of the reasons a customer may want to cancel a domain include; business closure, misspelled domain, or simply wanting to cancel the domain, etc.

We do not have any process for canceling a domain. But, what you can do is to ensure that the domain name's Auto-Renewal status is off. You can change the status of the domain by following this article, How to Change Domain Auto-Renewal Settings. Note that when the domain's Auto-Renewal status is turned off, it will remain active until it expires. This also gives you time to make amends if you change your mind and want to keep the domain name active otherwise.

Before canceling the domain name, please bear in mind the following:

  • Canceling a domain name does not equate to canceling the hosting service. In case you also want to cancel or not renew your hosting, please visit this article, Canceling Your Hosting Account.
  • Your other services connected to the domain will remain active until the domain expires. When the domain expires, any other products or services will no longer be active.
  • We cannot issue a pro-rated refund for the remaining days the domain name is kept active after turning off the auto-renewal. During domain name registration, it was stated that the money-back guarantee applies to hosting and domain privacy, but not for the domain name itself.
